ABOUT
Did you know you can help the school without contributing money? Meet our new Shoe Drive Fundraiser. We've partnered with Funds2Orgs, the nation's largest shoe drive fundraising company, to help PHE PTA raise funds needed to support programs like STEAM, Art Masters, Family fun events, parent education, and more.
A shoe drive fundraiser goes beyond raising money for our school. After the shoes are picked up, they're sent to developing countries to create job opportunities. Shoe drive fundraisers help provide inventory to over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs who sell the shoes to support their families. In turn, they help themselves out of poverty with a hand up, not a handout.
OUR GOAL
We are looking to fill 100 bags of shoes. Each bag carries 25 pairs of shoes. When we reach 100% of our goal, all students will receive a special treat to be announced.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Donate any and all of your gently worn, used, and new shoes during the collection period, March 4 to April 15th. It's not just kids shoes, it's all shoes, sizes, and all purposes accepted, i.e. athletic shoes, cleats, boots, sandals, formal wear, casual, tennis shoes, flats, etc. They should generally still be wearable with no holes, wet, or mold. Click here for an example of good and bad shoes.
Encourage your students to take part in the collection process by asking friends, family members, neighbors, teammates, clubs, and parents’ co-workers to donate, too.
Help us spread the word in your communities and invite them to drop off their shoes during the Community Drive-Thru Collection Event on Saturday, April 13th.
Collected shoes not only help support us but they will be reused and given a second life by those in need in developing countries worldwide. It’s a win-win.
VOLUNTEER
Calling all Moms, Dads, and Supporters. We need your help with a variety of tasks ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour of time. Click here for the Sign Up Genius.
Become a Community Captain for your housing community as a drop-off location or offer to pick up from your neighbor's homes, work, or community groups on a specific date and time. Encourage your students to also participate in collecting the shoe donations. It's a minimal time commitment for a big impact. Email Kelly Sustacek at treasurer@portolahillspta.org to volunteer.
